Field Survey to Landslide Prone Areas 2023

A field survey was organized by the HEI SL Cell. Mawenella, Rambukkana and Aranayake areas were visited during this field visit. Main objectives of this field visit are to identify recently landslide areas, explore landslide mechanisms, study of engineering methods to reduce the risk of landslide in mountainous slopes and collect data for the Participatory Landslide Inventory (PLI) App.

This field survey was carried out under the guidance of academic and other supportive staff of the campus. Staff from the HEI SL Cell and lecturers from the Department of Regional Science and Planning were participated in the field survey. Third-year students of the Department of Regional Science and Planning have gathered for this field survey. At the end of the field visit, main objectives have been successfully archived.
