The Language Unit at SANASA Campus, Kegalle is dedicated to enhancing the English language proficiency of undergraduate students and the wider community. Reflecting the values of SANASA — education, cooperation, and community development — the unit strives to provide learners with the communication skills necessary for academic achievement, career advancement, and active participation in society.

The unit supports undergraduates pursuing degree programs in Banking & Finance, Regional Science & Planning, and Insurance & Risk Management, ensuring they acquire the language competence required for both their studies and professional pathways. In addition, the Language Unit offers diploma and certificate courses designed to meet the diverse needs of community members seeking to strengthen their English communication skills.

By fostering fluency, confidence, and critical communication abilities, the Language Unit contributes to developing graduates who can excel in local and global contexts while remaining committed to the SANASA tradition of community-oriented higher education.

Activities of the Language Unit

To achieve its goals, the Language Unit at SANASA Campus, Kegalle conducts a variety of activities designed to enhance students’ language proficiency and overall communication skills. These activities combine academic rigor with creativity, ensuring that learners are well-prepared for the demands of modern Sri Lanka and the global stage.

  • English Club: A student-led platform that promotes peer learning, teamwork, and interactive language practice through engaging sessions.
  • Regular Meetings: Opportunities for discussions, group activities, and collaborative language exercises that strengthen fluency and confidence.
  • Film Festivals: Screening and analyzing English films to develop listening, comprehension, and cross-cultural awareness.
  • Debate Competitions: Encouraging critical thinking, structured argumentation, and effective public speaking skills.
  • Drama Competitions: Enhancing pronunciation, expression, and creativity through performance-based learning.
  • Conducting Free English Classes for Kids : Improving English language skills for preschool students at Sanasa Preschool.
